Royal Arch Glaucoma Fund

The Royal Arch Glaucoma Fund reflects one of our most fundamental Masonic values: charitable service to improve the lives of others. Through this fund, Companions of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island support research, awareness, and assistance related to glaucoma and vision health.

A Grand Chapter Commitment

The Royal Arch Glaucoma Fund represents more than a charitable initiative—it is the result of a deliberate and enduring commitment by the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island to support vision health and medical research.

This commitment traces its origins to the vision and advocacy of Companion Harold Weiland, whose dedication to addressing the impact of glaucoma helped inspire the Grand Chapter to formally adopt glaucoma as a primary charitable focus. Through his efforts, awareness was raised within Royal Arch Masonry of the profound personal, familial, and societal effects of this disease.

In response, the Grand Chapter established what would become the Royal Arch Glaucoma Fund, aligning Masonic principles of relief, compassion, and service with tangible support for medical research, education, and treatment. Since its formal establishment in 1996, the Fund has served as a consistent expression of the Grand Chapter’s charitable mission.

Today, the Glaucoma Fund stands as a lasting legacy of that original vision—supported by Companions, Chapters, and friends across Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island—and continues to reflect the Grand Chapter’s resolve to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by vision loss.

How the Fund Helps
