I am researching a direct ancestor (on my mother's side) who, as family scuttlebut tells me, was a member of the Masonic Lodge in St. John's Nfld, during a career as an NCO with the Royal Artillery in the 1810's and 1820's. His name was David Pigott. He accepted a land grant near St. Peter's Bay in P.E.I. in lieu of his pension. I would like to know if there is a record of his continued membership at a Lodge in P.E.I. while homesteading there in the 1820's or 1830's. Can anyone help me?

My great grandfather Rupert Bent served as Grandmaster of the Masonic Lodge in Nova Scotia. He also was Grand Master of Orange and District Commissioner of St Mary's. My grandfather was born around 1869, so I believe it was in this time frame. We know nothing about Rupert and would appreciate any information you can give us - or any direction you can point us. We do know he had seven children and adopted my grandfather, Alexander Nichols, who married in time two of Rupert's daughters. Thanking you in advance, Virginia Ness, La Mesa, New Mexico, USA
