A Biography of Gerald Barrie MacLellan

Most Excellent Companion Gerald Barrie Mac Lellan was born and educated in New Glasgow, Pictou County, Nova Scotia. Companion Mac Lellan has two sons, Christopher and Craig Mac Lellan and five Grand children. Barrie and his wife Clara reside in the Rockingham area of Halifax.

M.E. Companion Mac Lellan moved to Halifax in 1969 and worked for the Province Of Nova Scotia, Department of Environment. Barrie took an early retirement package from the Nova Scotia Department of Environment after serving for 27 years.

Companion Mac Lellan was very active in the Government Employees Union and served on the Board of Directors for several years as well as many committees.

Companion Mac Lellan was very active with Port City Counseling and has served on the Board of Directors for many years.

Companion Mac Lellan was initiated in Euclid Lodge # 92 on April 2, 1969, passed on May 7, 1969 and raised on June 4, 1969.

Having moved to Halifax in 1969 he traveled every month to fulfill the duties of the several Offices in the Lodge until he finished his term as Master of that Lodge Euclid # 92, New Glasgow.

Comp. Mac Lellan affiliated with University Lodge # 110 in Halifax in 1974 and served as Master of the Lodge in 1984. He has remained active in University Lodge serving on several committees and active in degree work, Education and Past Masters committee.

Installed as District Grand Director of Ceremonies of Halifax City District # 1, GLNS at the Annual communication of Grand Lodge held in Sydney, NS. On June 1994.

Received the Meritorious Service Medal in November 1998, presented by the Most Worshipful Grand Master, GLNS, M.W.G.M., E Carson Jackson.

Comp. Mac Lellan joined the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Victoria Lodge of Perfection in October 16,1970, Keith Sovereign Chapter of Rose Croix in November 1971 and the Nova Scotia Sovereign Consistory in March 11,1972. Receiving his 32nd. Degree in the Valley of Halifax.

He became active as an Officer of the Victoria Lodge of Perfection serving in various positions and served as Thrice Puissant Grand Master of the Lodge of Perfection in 1987.

Ill. Bro. Mac Lellan is active in about 6-Degree teams of Scottish Rite and is presently serving as the Grand Almoner of the Victoria Lodge of Perfection, Valley of Halifax.

Member of Sircom Chapter # 29 Royal Arch Masons and served as High Priest of the Chapter in 1996. He served as Secretary of Sircom Chapter # 29.

Comp. Mac Lellan received the Order of High Priesthood in February 1996 and served as an Officer of that Order.

Comp. Mac Lellan has served as Assistant District Grand Secretary for District # 1, Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

Comp. Mac Lellan is a member of Chebucto Council # 3, Royal and Select Masters and is presently Thrice Illustrious Master of that Council.

He is a member of the M. J. A. Wagner Lodge of Royal Arc Mariner's of Nova Scotia. Supreme Grand Council Eastern Jurisdiction of Canada.

He is a member of Antiquity Preceptory # 5 of Knights Templar and is presently serving as Sub-Marshal of that Preceptory.

He is a Member of the York Rite Sovereign Collage of North America. Nova Scotia York Rite Collage # 132

Member of the York Rite Knight Templar Priests, St. Andrews Tabernacle # 85, Grand Collage of Great Britain and Tabernacles Overseas.

Member of the Order of the Secret Monitor. Nova Scotia Conclave # 6 on the Register of the Grand Conclave of Canada. Holding Office in the conclave.

Member of Philae Shrine Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. Halifax, NS.

Installed as Grand Scribe of Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Nova Scotia and P. E. I. May 1999 in New Glasgow.

Member of the Board of General Purposes of Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons.

Installed Grand High Priest of Royal Arch Masons of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island on May 6, 2000 in Amherst, NS.
